Passion for Art

Susana Gordon Attias, a Venezuelan-American artist born in Caracas, began her architectural studies before moving to Canada (1969-1972) to train in fine arts and design. After working as a film production assistant in Venezuela, she studied cinema in Paris (1976-1979), collaborating on projects like a mural at Metro République.

In 1983, she settled in the U.S., continuing her education in film and interior design. A pivotal moment was her scholarship at the Art Students League of New York (1986-1990), guided by Knox Martin, where she developed her distinctive body of work in drawing, painting, and mixed media, celebrated for its gestural freedom and chromatic range. She maintained a significant relationship with Knox Martin, American painter, sculptor, and muralist as his assistant.

Later, she participated in imagery Kabbalah study groups in NYC. Her prolific work includes drawing, collage, painting, photography, and assemblages. She has exhibited in numerous group shows, notably at the Art Students League and Sala Mendoza in Venezuela.
